Facilities & Campus Development

Facilities & Campus Development was created in August 2016 by combining two existing units within the Division of Operations: Facilities Services (FS) and Planning, Development & Construction (PDC) departments.  This merger supports organizational alignment to drive service and operational enhancements and provides a framework for coordinated leadership of these two functions that have so many interdependencies.  To facilitate this change two key staffing promotions were made:

  • David Dent (formerly PDC Executive Director) is now Assistant Vice President, Facilities and Campus Development with responsibility for all of the functions within the current FS and PDC portfolios.
  • Harold Speed (formerly FS Executive Director) is now Executive Director, Facilities Maintenance, an expansion of the former Director, Facilities Maintenance role to include responsibility for overall management of General Services functions and GW’s contract relationship with Aramark.

FCD’s Facilities (formerly Facilities  Services) is comprised of several units, including Energy & Environmental Programs, Facilities Maintenance, Facilities Projects, General Services, Property Management, and Relocation Services.

  • Manages and maintain GW's property and grounds on all three of GW's campuses.  This includes housekeeping, routine and emergency maintenance, moving services, pest control, project management, life safety upkeep, HVAC repairs, grounds maintenance, and recycling/waste management. Our maintenance team includes electricians, carpenters, painters, HVAC technicians, locksmiths, and plumbers.
  • Maintenance requests may be submitted 24/7 using the FixIt system. You can also use FixIt to view the status of your request. Please read work request section for more information about the work request processes.
