Resources to help maneuver Metro's SafeTrack project

SafeTrack is an accelerated track work plan to address safety recommendations and rehabilitate the Metrorail system to improve safety and reliability. SafeTrack accelerates three years' worth of work into approximately one year. The plan significantly expands maintenance time on weeknights, weekends and midday hours and includes 15 "Safety Surges" - long duration track outages for major projects in key parts of the system.

It's important to stay up to date with the initiative since it will impact different parts of the metro system during each phase. Each week DivOps Communication Team will make sure that that that week's fact sheet is posted here. Along with the following resources and factsheets found below. 

Safe Track Phase 9 Continues- Sept. 14 - Oct. 26

  • Shuttle train will operate between Vienna and West Falls Church every 24 minutes (regularly every 6 minutes during rush hour). Transfer at West Falls Church to continue trip.

  • Normal service levels at other Orange Line stations.

  • Expect trains to/from Vienna to be extremely crowded.

  • Limited free weekday rush hour express Metrobus shuttle service will operate between Vienna and West Falls Church every 5-10 minutes from 5AM-9AM and 3PM to 8PM (Shuttles will not stop at Dunn Loring.)

  • Customers who normally use Vienna or Dunn Loring should consider alternate boarding locations or use other travel options.
